Doesn’t look like a very fast mechanism…

good luck or bad? i can’t decide which was happening there.
So apparently stepping on a banana peel will not actually make you slip and fall. :U
Anyway, classic comedy myths aside, I think I see what’s going on here. ~_^
Wellllll…. I have problems accepting many things that the Mythbusters say, and I’ll just leave it at that.
But, if you’re standing or walking on a smooth surface, like a set of stairs, and you step on pretty much anything, you’re going to stumble, if not slip.
Besides, a banana peel is the gold standard for villainous downfall, unless you’re in a car chase, then it’s oil slicks.
